HAZMAT, short for Hazardous Materials, are substances that can cause substantial harm to health, property, or the environment. Also called dangerous goods, HAZMAT are regulated to promote their safe handling, storage, transportation, and disposal to help prevent HAZMAT incidents. • Identify and control hazardous substances present in their workplaces. • Develop or rethink safe and efficient strategies for the use, handling, and disposal of these substances. • Promote safe and effective work practices. • Reduce workers’ compensation losses. • Comply with the law.

Planning controls for hazardous substances: circular 04/ This circular provides guidance on the operation of the consent procedure for hazardous substances which.
